Our comprehensive heat pump services are designed to address the unique demands of the St. Marks climate, ensuring your system runs efficiently, effectively, and reliably, no matter the season.

We specialize in providing meticulous service for all makes and models of heat pumps, from traditional ducted systems to modern ductless mini-splits. Addressing the Unique Challenges for Heat Pumps in St. Marks

The coastal environment of St. Marks presents specific challenges that can impact the performance and lifespan of a heat pump. Without proper servicing, these factors can lead to decreased efficiency, premature wear, and unexpected breakdowns. Our service approach is tailored to counteract these local issues.

Humidity and Condensation: Florida's high humidity means your heat pump works harder to dehumidify your indoor air. This process generates significant condensation, which can lead to clogged drain lines, water damage, and potential mold growth if not managed properly. Our service includes a thorough inspection and cleaning of the entire condensate drainage system.

Salt Air Corrosion: Proximity to the coast exposes outdoor units to salt-laden air. This saline moisture is highly corrosive and can accelerate the deterioration of metal components, including the delicate fins on your condenser coils, electrical connections, and the system's cabinet. Regular service involves cleaning these components and checking for early signs of corrosion to mitigate long-term damage.

Heavy Year-Round Workload: Unlike in colder climates where heating systems get a long seasonal break, heat pumps in Florida are often in use year-round for either cooling or heating. This constant operation puts significant strain on all mechanical parts, from the compressor and fan motor to the reversing valve. Proactive service helps identify and address the wear and tear associated with this heavy workload before it results in system failure.

What Our Comprehensive Heat Pump Service Entails

A professional service appointment is more than a quick look-over. It is a detailed process of inspection, cleaning, and calibration designed to restore your system's efficiency and reliability.

Detailed System Inspection:Our technicians begin with a thorough visual inspection of the entire system, including the indoor air handler and the outdoor unit. We check for signs of wear, damage, or potential issues. This includes examining electrical wiring for fraying or loose connections, inspecting refrigerant lines for signs of leaks, and ensuring the unit is level and has proper clearance for airflow.

Thorough Component Cleaning:Dirt, dust, and debris are the primary enemies of efficiency. We meticulously clean the key components of your system.

  • Evaporator and Condenser Coils: Clean coils are essential for proper heat transfer. We clean dirt, pollen, and grime from both indoor and outdoor coils to restore performance and lower energy consumption.
  • Blower Components: We inspect and clean the blower wheel and motor, which are responsible for circulating air throughout your home. A clean blower assembly ensures strong, consistent airflow.
  • Condensate System: We flush the condensate drain line and clean the drain pan to prevent clogs, water overflow, and the potential for mold growth.

System Calibration and Testing:Once cleaned and inspected, we test and calibrate your system to ensure it operates according to manufacturer specifications.

  • Refrigerant Level Check: We check the refrigerant charge to ensure it is at the correct level. An improper charge can drastically reduce efficiency and damage the compressor.
  • Thermostat Calibration: We verify your thermostat is reading the temperature correctly and communicating properly with the heat pump.
  • Electrical System Check: We tighten all electrical connections and measure the voltage and amperage on the motors to prevent electrical failures.
  • System Cycling Test: We run the heat pump through its heating, cooling, and defrost cycles to confirm every function is operating correctly.

Signs Your St. Marks Heat Pump Needs Service

While annual service is recommended, your system may show signs that it requires attention sooner. Being aware of these indicators can help you address a minor issue before it becomes a major, costly problem.

  • Unexpected Increase in Energy Bills: A sudden spike in your utility costs without a corresponding change in usage often points to a loss of system efficiency.
  • Reduced Heating or Cooling Performance: If your home doesn't feel as comfortable as it used to or some rooms are warmer or cooler than others, the system may be struggling.
  • Strange Noises: Grinding, squealing, rattling, or clanking sounds from either the indoor or outdoor unit are clear signs of a mechanical problem.
  • Short Cycling: If the heat pump turns on and off more frequently than usual, it can indicate anything from a clogged filter to an oversized system or a refrigerant issue.
  • Ice or Frost on the Coils: While some frost is normal during the defrost cycle in winter, a heavy buildup of ice on the outdoor coil in winter or any ice on the indoor coil in summer signals a problem with airflow or refrigerant.
  • Constant Operation: A system that runs continuously without reaching the set temperature is working inefficiently and needs immediate attention.

By scheduling a professional service, you can maintain a comfortable and healthy home environment while protecting your investment and keeping your energy costs under control. Our dedicated service ensures your heat pump is always ready to handle the demands of the St. Marks climate.

I have nothing but great things to say about this company! From the initial call to trouble shoot our old system to the installation of the new system. Maya was awesome and patient with us and the bank. Stratton, Wilton, and Austin did the removal and install of the systems and they were professional and proficient. I will be recommending this company to everyone and anyone! Thank you for making this less stressful then it needed to be. I'm very grateful for the help and comfort they have given me and my family.

We’ve had issues with our a/c unit freezing up off and on for a month or so. Aden from Keith Key came out and checked our system out. He fixed an issue with the bypass valve and also tuned our fan. Additionally we also replaced our thermostats with new T10’s. He took his time and helped me connect all of them to the WiFi and the app.Aden is very friendly and knowledgeable. I haven’t had an issue with my system since. He was also willing to accept the assistance of our overly helpful shih tzu. Call Keith Key and Aden for any issues with hvac systems, they can get it fixed!
